Consumer Product Manufacturers Case Studies

The company is introducing a Tier One trading partner to its automotive OEM supply chain. Collaborative is integrating sales forecast (EDI 830) and shipping information (EDI 856) with BA trading partners to ensure timely product shipments to the production line. The information will be linked to AP and AR functions to initiate billing in a digital fashion, eliminating the need for normal paperwork processes.
Global confectionery company
A global confectionery company needed to streamline its manufacturing and distribution network. Specifically, it wished to concentrate on its core competency of selling and marketing a robust line of unique, high-quality products. Collaborative designed and selected the most optimal logistics network and 3PL providers while helping it achieve it’s growth expectations.
The centralized 3PL solution will allow the company to achieve its operational Key Performance Indicators, which include customer order-to-delivery cycle time, on-time delivered fill rate and best-in-class logistics costs and services. Specifically, Collaborative:
- Performed a network analysis to provide a documented strategy for an optimized distribution and transportation network
- Documented a future IT logistics network architecture
- Made distribution center/warehouse and carrier company recommendations
- Developed an RFP with a scorecard
- Selected the best logistics providers
- Created a transition plan to implement the new network strategy.
Collaborative considered three supply chain infrastructure issues: distribution, inventory and transportation. By managing these initiatives, Collaborative allowed the company to focus on it business, rather than its logistics network. Additionally, it enjoys a streamlined distribution network—a significant reduction in time and cost. Moreover, the organization moves its products from the factory to a distribution center, and from a DC to market, much more quickly.
